A hollow shaft gear motor (sometimes misspelled as "hollow shoft") is a gear motor whose gearbox has a hollow output shaft. Instead of using a solid output shaft with a coupling, the driven machine's shaft fits directly inside the hollow shaft and is secured with a key, shrink disc, or torque arm.
